Emerging Talent: Students of Salem State

April 30 – June 27, 2015

This curated exhibit featured works by current Salem State students working in a variety of media. Emma Thurgood, the curator at ArcWorks, says, “Students so rarely get an opportunity to exhibit their work off-campus to a broader audience. Likewise, the general public usually doesn’t have an opportunity to see the work being created by the next generation of artists for an extended period of time. This exhibit is a step towards changing that dynamic, by offering students the chance to exhibit their work in a professional off-campus gallery to the general public.”

For many of the students, this was the first public showing of their work. Approximately eight students have been selected for the exhibit, representing the variety of media being taught at the university, such as painting, printmaking, photography and ceramics.
