Join us to celebrate the artwork created by artists from around the region in the 2016 Spring Fling juried exhibit. Over 30 artists submitted work for the juror’s consideration, resulting in an exhibit of 34 phenomenal artworks. The juror was Mary Melilli, Chair of Art + Design at Salem State University, She had this to say about the exhibit and the award winners:
“In this exhibit, I was impressed with the confident handling of the mediums and the wide range of ideas/moods/moments-in-time conveyed through composition, value, color and shapes. Anna Andruswiewicz’s watercolor expertly utilized contrast between bold and soft colors; and captures the essence of the scene’s details with minimal brushwork. Joey Phoenix’s photograph uses shallow depth of field to isolate the subject from the background, leaving the viewer’s eye continuously move through the piece enjoying the whimsical expressions of the trio. Jeffrey Rezende’s oil painting celebrates realism and abstraction at the same time. it holds up to scrutiny when seen at a distance and up close. The tiny brushstrokes on the surface dance in harmony; the arrangement of sweeping lines and clustered spots masterfully co-exist, sometimes blending together and sometimes holding their own space.”
Congratulations to the winners!
