“Landscapes and Seascapes”

June 8, – July 25th, 2017

Opening Reception June 8th

Juror: Patricia Burson

As Claude Monet said, “For me, a landscape does not exist in its own right,

since its appearance changes at every moment; but the surrounding atmosphere
brings it to life, the light and the air which vary continually. For me, it is only
the surrounding atmosphere which gives subjects their true value.”

Juror Patricia Burson comments “Susan j Schrader delivers a tipsy topsy, turvy, world of bubbles and baubles and building, surrounded by fantastical creatures. Her whimsy, joyous use of pattern, color mixed media materials, makes a world I want to dive into and giggle.”

3rd Place Award ,”The Last Horizon” by Brett Mason

3rd Brett Mason

Juror Patricia Burson comments, ” This painting employs imaginative use of composition in a landscape. Although it uses the basic , ‘Rules of Thirds’ the center section of whitecaps on deep water is sandwiched by a foundation of pleasant organic colorful field and then topped not with sky, but a geopmetric valance, giving the painting not just good color balance but also a surprising sense of depth.”
